Maa Siddhidatri is the ninth avatar of Navdurga. Devotees of Maa Durga keep a fast for nine days during Devi Paksha (Navratri), a nine-day long festival that celebrates the feminine power (Shakti). On each of these days, one of the nine forms of Durga (Navdurga) is worshipped.
Maa Siddhidatri:
This form of Maa Durga is hailed as Siddhidatri because she grants the wishes of those who long for spiritual bliss. The pictorial depiction of the Mother Goddess shows her seated on a fully bloomed pink lotus. She holds the discus (chakra) and the mace (gada) in the right hands and a conch (Shankha) and a lotus in the left hands. It is said that she is the manifestation of the formless Adishakti, who is worshipped by Lord Shiva himself.
It is believed that one side of Lord Shiva’s body is that of Goddess Siddhidatri. Therefore, he is also known by the name of Ardhanarishwar. According to Vedic scriptures, Lord Shiva attained all the siddhis by worshiping this Goddess. She possesses eight supernatural powers, or the siddhis, called Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakambya, Ishitva and Vashitva.
Governing Planet:
It is believed that Goddess Siddhidatri provides direction and energy to planet Ketu. So planet Ketu is governed by her.
