Today is the seventh day of the nine-day long festival of Navratri. Kalratri Mata is worshipped on the seventh day of Navratri. She is considered quite a violent form of Maa Parvati. Her name means: ‘Kaal’ - time/death & ‘Ratri’ - night. As per her name, she is considered as the destroyer of darkness. Going by the legends, when Mata Parvati gave up her golden avatar to kill Shumbha-Nishumbha, she began to be called as Kaalratri.
Maa Kaalratri's vehicle is a donkey and she has four arms, of which the top right hand is in Varada mudra and the bottom hand is in Abhayamudra, while the upper hand on the left side has an iron fork and the lower hand has a Khadag. This is avatar of Goddess Durga is said to be the most dangerous but also very auspicious.
Devi Kalratri is regarded as one of the many destructive forms of Maa Shakti which includes Kali, Mahakali, Bhadrakali, Bhairavi, Mrityu, Rudrani, Chamunda, Chandi and Durga.

Her favourite flower is night-blooming Jasmine.
Colour of the Day:
The colour of the day for devotees is green as symbolizes nature and evokes a sense of growth, fertilityand peace .
Puja Vidhi:
This day, tithi, and timings are considered to be very auspicious to perform Navgraha Puja. Devotees performed the puja with perfumed water, Ganga jal, dry fruits, panchamrita, flowers, incense sticks, rice and bhogs. Her favourite flower is night-blooming jasmine and hence offered during the puja to please her.
Significance of Kalratri Puja:
Maa Kaalratri is believed to govern the planet Shani and hence worshipping her blesses the devotees with good luck and wisdom.
